Been That Kid is ADHD coaching built from the inside out. Jordan Schatz, LMHC-LP, was the distracted, overwhelmed kid who didn't know why his brain worked differently. Now he helps adults with ADHD, kids, teens, and parents figure it out. Real strategies. Lived experience.
Jordan Schatz was the kid who couldn't sit still, couldn't focus, and kept hearing that he just needed to "try harder." He knows what it feels like to have an ADHD brain in a world not built for it. The frustration, the shame, the sense that something is fundamentally wrong with you can be unbearable. That experience didn't disappear. It became the foundation for everything that followed.
The clinician learned about ADHD from research. The parent learned from watching. Jordan learned from living it: being the kid who couldn't sit still, couldn't focus, and couldn't figure out why everyone else seemed to have it together. That's a different kind of knowing. And the clinical training he built on top of it means it's not just empathy. It's progress.
Been That Kid exists because the most powerful thing you can say to someone with ADHD isn't "here's a system." It's "I've been exactly where you are and here is what helped." That combination of lived experience and real expertise is what makes this different.
"What looks like won't is usually can't."- The belief behind every session at Been That Kid
Whether you're an adult who just got diagnosed, a teen who's tired of being misunderstood, a parent who's tried everything, or a school looking for real ADHD support, there's a place here.
If you've spent your whole life being told you're smart but not living up to your potential or feeling like your brain is working against you, this is for you.
A lot of adults spent decades thinking they were lazy, disorganized, or just not trying hard enough, then got diagnosed and finally had a word for it. This is for you.
You're not imagining it - raising an ADHD kid is hard. Parent coaching gives you the strategies that actually work for ADHD brains, not just neurotypical ones.
ADHD doesn't just affect the kid - it affects the whole household. When everyone understands what's actually going on, the dynamic shifts completely.
ADHD brains learn completely differently and many teachers are unknowingly setting them up for failure. Jordan works with schools, districts, and youth organizations to bring practical ADHD education and training to the people who need it most. Whether it's a staff workshop, a student program, or an ongoing partnership the goal is always the same: fewer ADHD kids falling through the cracks because nobody understood their brain.
Let's Talk PartnershipsNo rigid systems. No one-size-fits-all programs.
A free 15-minute call to get a sense of what's going on and whether we're a good fit. No intake forms, no pressure. Just an honest conversation about where things are.
ADHD isn't one thing. We figure out exactly how your brain works - where it gets stuck, where it fires, what actually helps - so the coaching is built around your reality, not a generic framework.
Whether it's executive function, emotional regulation, organization, self-advocacy, we build the skills week by week, in a way that actually makes sense for an ADHD brain.
The goal is for you to understand your own brain well enough that you don't need coaching the same way anymore. You leave with tools, self-awareness, and a better relationship with yourself.

"Working with Jordan for coaching has been a game changer. He brings a deep understanding of ADHD while keeping everything realistic, relatable, and actionable. As a parent with a teenager with ADHD these meetings were life changing. He helped me build systems that actually work for my child's brain, not against it, and encouraged progress without pressure or shame. Our house is more peaceful now with so much less arguing. This has really helped my parenting. If you're looking for a coach who is empathetic, insightful, and genuinely invested in your child's growth, I highly recommend him."
